I'm Sorry // My Temporary Absence

Hi!!!

First off, I wanna apologize - I should have made this post a week or two ago. *winces* But, I'm doing it now!

I've been having a pretty rough time lately, for several reasons. And stressing over my never-ending to-do list was one issue.

So, I've been making a lot of changes in my life recently—including temporarily pausing a lot of online stuff. I still keep in contact with my two closest friends (We all live in separate time zones, so it's not like we get to go visit each other's houses when we want to talk. 🙄) and my Bible study group, but that's about the extent of my online "social life" for a bit.

Hopefully I'll be back into the blogging sphere before long, though! When I do, I should have some powerful new posts!! Keep me in your prayers and I'll see you soon!

P.S. I'm signed up for a blog tour of one my favorite books, so that'll still be coming really soon! I'll pop back into the blogging world for a few days there, because I don't want to miss one day of this amazing book's release!

Picture Perfect: Book Cover Design Crash Course - Part 2

Welcome to Day 2 of my cover design series!  Let me preface this by saying that, more than last time, a lot of these things I'll mention are opinion. And some of these "rules" are even more breakable than the font "rules." These are opinions and tips that I've learned over the past years, but they're not set in stone. 😊 Without any further ado, let's get started! *Note: All of the covers were designed by me on the free Canva website, my favorite place to create book covers and other graphics. Unless otherwise noted, all of the stories and authors are completely imaginary; I made them all up. Please don't use any of the covers in this post without my permission.* Picture Choice Now, there are a lot of common mistakes people make when designing book covers, but one of the most common is picture choice. There are a whole lot of examples of this, and the most common one might be cheesy stock pictures. Now, aside from the fact that you might want to ...

January 2021: Wrap Up

And . . . the first month of 2021 is already over! Can you believe it? 😮 Already this year, some big things have happened in my life! I got my first job! I decided on a timeline for publishing Like a Warrior . I read one of the rare books that actually blows my mind. I made a drastic change in career plans that I'm really excited about! I found yet another scheduling/to-do list method for my days that helps me! (I have to switch between different kinds of schedules and lists so I don't burn out.) I managed to stay consistent at blogging! I started a new blog series (Indie Author Spotlights). I participated in my first cover reveal! I joined Rebekah Morris's 2021 Reading Challenge! I had a lot of fun at The King's Daughters' Writing Camp! I wrote a short story in 21 words, as part of a challenge at Camp. That's the shortest story I ever remember writing! Writing progress in January: Worked on revising Like a Warrior , including majorly polishing the first chapte...

Let Me Introduce You...

I admit it.      My characters are real people to me. They have personalities, ideals, quirks, motivations, beliefs, good points, bad points. Like real-life people. I just happened to make these people up.     They're real to me, though, and I hope that, once you read their stories, they'll be real to you, too (a lot of commas right there).     First, though, you've got to know who they are. So that's what this post is about. I want to introduce you to some of the major characters in my novel, then you can ask questions about them - questions that they can answer in upcoming posts.     Now, to those intros. Protagonist: Briannon     Seventeen-year-old Briannon should be living in Zayvia's castle with her family of nobility. Instead, she's been living with a peasant family since she was twelve. She's left ruling to her uncle and sister - that's the way it's always been, even if it's wrong. But som e things are impossible to igno...
